Golan Telecom ordered to open 016 int’l calls to non-subscribers
The Ministry of Communications has ruled the Golan Telecom Ltd.is in breach of the provisions of its license with regard to international calls made by non-subscribers. In a notice to the company, the ministry said that the company’s practice of allowing subscribers who want to make international calls via its 016 prefix was illegal and must be corrected immediately.
Regulator nixes Bezeq-YES triple play
The Antitrust Authority today halted the marketing of a triple-play plan by Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ). As “Globes” reported, a few hours after the Antitrust Authority learned that the Ministry of Communications had allowed Bezeq to market the triple-play plan through its subsidiary DBS Satellite Services (1998) Ltd.(YES), the Antitrust Authority ordered the step to be delayed.
Bezeq Q3 profit down 38%
Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) today reported a 14.5% drop in its revenue to NIS 2.49 billion for the third quarter of 2012 from NIS 2.92 billion for the corresponding quarter of 2011. Net profit fell 38% from NIS 550 million to NIS 342 million .

iPhone Trying to Push Itself on Israeli Marketplace
Apple is setting down terms for Israeli cell phone companies interested in selling its new iPhone 5. According to a Yediot Achronot report, each company will have to commit selling 130,000 phones annually for the next three years in order to be eligible to offer the phone to consumers. This quantity represents 50% of total sales of the local cell phone companies.

Three important smartphone manufacturers – HTC Corporation, Samsung Electronics and Nokia – announced that in mid-November they will introduce new smartphone models in Israel based on Microsoft’s cellphone operating system Windows Phone 8. Until now, Windows Phone has been completely absent from the Israeli cellphone market. Earlier versions of the operating system were never launched here, primarily because they didn’t support Hebrew.
