Hot Mobile offers NIS 9.90 unlimited monthly plan

Hot Telecommunication Systems Ltd. unit Hot Mobile Ltd.today launched a NIS 9.90 unlimited calls and Internet monthly plan for four months. After four months, the cost of the plan will jump ten-fold to NIS 99 a month.

Rami Levy in talks to sell MVNO to Pelephone

Telecommunications industry sources say that Rami Levy Chain Stores Hashikma Marketing 2006 Ltd. (TASE:RMLI) chairman Rami Levy recently met representatives of mobile carrier Pelephone Communications Ltd.to sell his mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), Rami Levy Communications Ltd. The MVNO’s business has been declining under a steady abandonment by subscribers.

Bezeq CEO quits

Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) CEO Avraham Gabbay unexpectedly resigned today, after five years in the job. He will stay on for six months, after which he will leave in favor of new challenges.

Less than two years since being appointed to the post, Stella Handler, chairperson of Hot Telecommunication Systems Ltd., announced her resignation today.

Hot offers full cable TV plan for NIS 399 a month

Hot Telecommunication Systems Ltd.today announced a full cable television plan, including premium stations, at a fixed price of NIS 399 a month. The company says, “The financial value of this full plan for a customer is NIS 914.”

Landline interconnect fees to fall too

Landline interconnect (i.e. connections between different telephone networks) rates will be cut from around NIS 0.04 to NIS 0.01. As “Globes” revealed, consultancy firm Frontier Economics Ltd. found that landline connectivity rates should be cut to just NIS 0.01. The decision to cut the rate will presumably be made by the next communications minister, because Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) and Hot Telecommunication Systems Ltd.will have submit reservations about the measure, and such a decision does not end quickly in any case.

Ministry promises 4G frequencies this year

The 2013 work plan, which the Ministry of Communications is currently discussing, includes the allocation of 4G frequencies. Ministry of Communications director general Eden Bar-Tal says that he not only intends to hold the tender, but to complete the allocation of frequencies so that mobile carriers will be able to prepare, and even begin the planning and establishment of the new network this year.

Victory for the workers: Pelephone concedes on union

The path to the first collective agreement in Israel’s mobile telephony sector is open. After four months of almost unprecedented opposition, the management of Pelephone Communications Ltd.yesterday recognized the Histadrut (General Federation of Labor in Israel) as the union representing the mobile carrier’s workers. Management made the decision after counting the employees’ union application forms, together with Histadrut representatives.
