Nokia announced today the launch of its Lumia 625 smartphone in Israel. The phone is targeting the mid-range market, and retails for NIS 1,650.

Lumia 625 is an upgrade from the previous model, Lumia 620, which was launched in Israel in April 2013. The new model features a larger screen – 4.7 inches instead of 3.8 inches, but with the same, relatively low resolution of 480-800 pixels.

The screen has been upgraded to Corning’s Glass 2. Internal memory remained the same – 8GB, with an option to increase it with a memory card (up to 64GB), and 512 RAM. The camera still has a 5MP sensor, but video resolution has been increased from 720p to 1080p.

The phone’s processor is still dual core, but is slightly faster at 1.2GHz, instead of 1GHz. The battery is stronger – 2000mAh instead of 1,300mAh. The operating system is Microsoft Windows Phone 8, which succeeded in doubling its European market share to 10% last year (according to Kantar research).
