Golan Telecom gains 30,000 subscribers
In November, the company launched a NIS 49 monthly plan for six months.
Mobility figures for December obtained by “Globes” show that Hot Mobile recruited 44,000 subscribers, but lost 18,000 subscribers, for a net recruitment of 26,000 subscribers. Golan Telecom recruited 36,000 subscribers, and lost 5,000 subscribers, for a net recruitment of 31,000 subscribers.
It seems that some of Hot Mobile’s lost subscribers were subscribers of Mirs Communications, but that others were new subscribers. In any event, it is natural for Hot Mobile to have a higher churn rate than Golan Telecom because it is a much larger company, which set out to face the competition when it already had Mirs’ 450,000 subscribers.
In late November, Golan Telecom launched a NIS 49 monthly plan for six months, and Hot Mobile responded with its own plan on December 6. The plans boosted the two companies’ recruitment of subscribers. In response, mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) YouPhone Ltd. launched its own aggressive NIS 39 monthly plan for six months, followed by Partner Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: PTNR; TASE: PTNR) brand 012mobile with a NIS 44 monthly plan for six months.
