The Ministry of Communications reports that 1.4 million subscribers switched mobile carrier during 2012, and 351,231 subscribers switched their landline carrier. In the fourth quarter, 490,651 subscribers switched their mobile carrier and 92,213 switched between landline carriers Bezeq Israeli Telecommunication Co. Ltd. (TASE: BEZQ) and HOT Telecommunication Systems Ltd.. The fourth quarter churn rate was 50% above the quarterly average of 200,000 subscribers.
The Ministry of Communications attributes the jump in the churn rate to the discounts for unlimited and all-inclusive plans offered by the mobile carriers to new subscribers.
